I enjoy helping people, it's just my nature. That is one of the reasons I became a nurse. In nursing school, I was often laughed at when asked what kind of nursing I wanted to do and I replied "wellness nursing". But nurses only take care of sick people, right? Wrong! As disease prevalence is on the rise, it is more important than ever to focus on staying well and protecting our health before we develop illness or disease. Healthcare is evolving and the focus is turning toward being healthy and staying healthy.
Do What You Love
Moral of that story: do what you love, not the standard that others place on a certain profession. As a nurse, I didn't only want to care for the ill, I wanted to help people prevent illness. Right out of nursing school I took a job as a Perinatal Nurse caring for moms and babies during labor, delivery, and postpartum. Sometimes my patients were ill but most were healthy and I helped them stay healthy. I then took a role as a Rounding Nurse helping teach moms how to care for themselves after having their babies. Still focused on how I could be a "wellness" nurse, I took a position as a Community Health Nurse, which is more in line with my love for helping people prevent illness with vaccinations and health screenings. While these jobs were fulfilling, I knew I still wanted more. I had lost sight of my own health while working long, odd shifts at the hospital and decided to take back control. I joined an amazing team of women, began committing to healthy eating and exercise and lost 25 lbs. It was then I realized my true passion and what I really loved to do: health coaching. The Health Studio & IV Spa was born! Now I can help people achieve better health in ways I find the most effective and fulfilling. With IV vitamin infusions you have a more practical way to gain and replenish essential vitamins and minerals the body needs for optimal performance. Medical grade supplements provides a science backed approach to nutrition and gut health. And Health Coaching is my favorite way to help you envision and carryout your own personal health goals. Dream big!
